Music industry contributes £3.5bn to UK economy

The music industry contributed £3.5bn to the UK economy in 2012, a new report suggests.

Government national statistics found that the industry also sustained over 100,000 full-time jobs and generated £1.4bn in exports.

Jo Dipple is Chief Executive of UK Music, the trade body behind the report.

She told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money: "Music is a really big economic force for this country."
