Lord Judge warns ECHR poses risk to parliamentary sovereignty
Allowing the European Court of Human Rights to set laws on social matters could pose a threat to parliamentary sovereignty, a former lord chief justice has said.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Lord Judge said that there was "a very serious problem with sovereignty" if binding legislation could be introduced by judges in Strasbourg.
He also said Parliament needed to decide how much power it was willing to give up to the court.
