The papers: Tuesday's front pages

Daily Mail contributing editor Ian Birrell and Tim Montgomerie, comment editor at the Times, reviewed Tuesday's front pages for the BBC News Channel.

They began by discussing the papers' coverage of the New Year's Honours, before examining the Daily Telegraph's lead story, which quotes ex-Foreign Office minister Alistair Burt as saying that when MPs prevented the UK from intervening militarily in Syria it created a "constitutional mess".

They then looked at the Independent's front page, which claims that an energy company blamed for being unable to restore power quickly enough to homes cut off over Christmas made a £1bn profit in the last year.
