The papers: Tuesday's front pages

Guardian diary editor Hugh Muir and Deborah Haynes, defence editor at the Times, reviewed Tuesday's papers for the BBC News Channel.

They began by discussing the i's front page, which describes the prime minister's decision to allow councils to keep all business rates derived from shale gas "fracking" schemes as a "bribe".

The pair then moved on to the Daily Telegraph, which reports Ed Miliband's claim that Labour is the party to help the middle class, before discussing a story in the Guardian pointing out that Labour's poll lead over the Conservatives has been cut as the economy has improved.
