The papers: Tuesday's front pages

Mina al-Oraibi, assistant editor-in-chief at London-based newspaper Asharq al-Awsat, joined the Independent's feature writer James Rampton to review the papers for the BBC News Channel.

They began by discussing the Daily Mirror's front page suggesting that Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith is planning to scrap the winter fuel allowance and free bus passes for pensioners.

They then moved on to the Daily Express, which talks about "political consensus" over annual rises in state pension payments and the Independent's front-page story which suggests that some suspected rape cases are being dropped in error by police or prosecutors.
