Theresa May: Student visa system 'needs cultural change'

The Home Office has suspended English language tests run by a major firm after BBC Panorama uncovered systematic fraud in the student visa system.

Home Secretary Theresa May told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that the system needs both "structural" and "cultural" change.

She added that the education sector must "take some responsibility" over the issue rather than objecting to the changes being put in place.

The home secretary also noted that she is looking to expand the number of face-to-face interviews to tackle the problem.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 10 February.
