Hurricane force winds batter north of England

Gale force winds have left nearly eighty thousand homes without power.

In the north of England, gusts of 112 miles an hour were recorded on top of the Pennines in Cumbria.

There is also widespread chaos on rail and road networks.

In Crewe, part of the roof was blown off the railway station.

Danny Savage reports.
