David Miranda to appeal High Court detention ruling

The nine-hour detention at Heathrow Airport of an ex-Guardian journalist's partner has been ruled lawful by the High Court in London.

David Miranda lives with reporter Glenn Greenwald who has written articles about state surveillance based on leaked documents.

Speaking from their home in Brazil, they told the BBC that they would appeal the ruling. They also accused the UK of having ''contempt'' for press freedom.
