Earthquake hits south west Britain

An earthquake has been felt in areas of south west Britain this afternoon - the British Geological Society has confirmed. No damage has been reported so far

An earthquake has been recorded under the Bristol Channel, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has confirmed.

The 4.1 magnitude quake happened at about 13:21 GMT and was felt in Devon, south Wales and Somerset.

Some residents reported their houses rocking, and likened the tremors to a "heavy truck going up the road".
