Cameron says EU statement 'a clear warning to Putin'

The EU has issued "a clear warning to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin" by agreeing to a series of measures in response to recent events in Crimea, the British Prime Minister David Cameron has said.

"Illegal actions by Russia cannot pass without a response," he added.

Meanwhile, MPs in Crimea have asked Moscow to allow the southern Ukrainian region to become part of the Russian Federation.
