Ofsted finds child-neglect failings

Local authorities are not doing enough to protect children from neglect, according to a report by education watchdog Ofsted.

It also found that some of them have "no clear picture" of the number of children in families where neglect may be a risk factor.

Debbie Jones, the director for social care at Ofsted, said social care professionals are not challenging families who ''can't or won't change''.
