HMIC: police handling of domestic abuse 'very concerning'
Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary has cited "very serious concerns" about the standard of investigation and the help offered to domestic abuse victims.
One of those victims is a 29 year-old Kimberley (not her real name) who was abducted and sustained serious facial and bodily injuries at the hands of her partner.
Kimberly told John Humphrys: "The first PC was very inappropriate, he only examined my injuries when my friend and family left the room, making me feel uneasy."
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 27 March 2014.
