Secret of shopping in a 'rubbish store'
More than £400m of unwanted items, from sofas to kettles, dishwashers to duffel coats, end up in the tip, although they are still in good condition.
The Local Government Association wants people to think more carefully about what they throw away.
It says many more goods could be rescued, revamped and resold.
