Deloitte: Discount stores have boosted High Street
Only one in five High Street shops affected by the biggest retail collapses of the last five years is still vacant, new research from Deloitte suggests.
Accountancy firm Deloitte also found that the High Street was outperforming retail parks and shopping centres when it came to re-occupying empty shops.
Lee Manning, restructuring services partner at Deloitte, told the Today programme many of the shops which have closed have been replaced by discount stores.
"There's been a shift towards value and convenience shopping on the high street," he said.
First broadcast on the Today programme on Friday 4 April.
