Income tax threshold set to rise
Britain will have the highest personal tax allowance in the G7 from Sunday, the Government has claimed.
From then, no tax will be paid by anyone on their first £10,000 of income, although national insurance will still be paid.
The Liberal Democrats say the change is worth up to £705 for more than 26m working people but Labour says the average family will still be worse off by almost £1000 a year.
Joe Lynam reports.
