Student loans: 'This is like a graduate tax'

The new student loans system "is effectively... a graduate tax" that many people will pay throughout their adult lives, BBC Money Box's Paul Lewis has said.

His comments came as new research was published which suggests most students will still be paying back loans from their university days in their 40s and 50s, and many will never clear their debts.
