Nigel Evans: CPS warned over 'historic abuse' cases

The Crown Prosecution Service has defended its decision to put the Conservative MP Nigel Evans on trial, saying it was right that the evidence was put before a jury.

The former deputy speaker of the House of Commons was cleared of a string of sexual offences at Preston Crown Court on Thursday.

Some MPs are questioning whether the case should have ever reached court.
