Monarchy cost tax payers £35.7 million in the last year

The Royal Family has cost the tax payer £35.7 million in the last financial year, not including security.

Buckingham Palace said the cost was equivalent to just over a penny a week for every person in the United Kingdom.

The Queen's income is expected to rise by more than 5% next year after the Crown Estate announced record profits.
