David Cameron announces £1.1bn defence spending

More than £1bn is to be invested in the capabilities of the Armed Forces, including £800m earmarked for intelligence and surveillance.

Prime Minister David Cameron announced the funding boost at the Farnborough airshow.

Mr Cameron said it was his aim to 'sustain the thriving defence industry'.
