Church decides on women bishops: Reports and reaction

The Church of England's ruling body, the General Synod, is to decide whether or not to allow women bishops.

Similar proposals were rejected by traditionalists two years ago.

Church officials say they are now hopeful of a different outcome, because amendments to the legislation have persuaded some moderate members to change their position.
