Police Federation backs new ethics code for officers
High profile cases of police misconduct, including the row with MP Andrew Mitchell over the so-called 'Plebgate affair, and the death of newspaper vendor Ian Tomlinson at the G20 protests, have damaged trust in the police.
From today a new code of ethics for all police officers and staff in England and Wales will come into being.
It has been drawn up by the College of Policing, the organisation which now oversees the profession.
Tim Muffett reports.
