BBC to broadcast emergency appeal for Gaza
The BBC and Sky have agreed to broadcast an appeal by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) for the people of Gaza.
The chief executive of the DEC, Saleh Saeed, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that aid agencies in Gaza will decide where the money is spent without political interference.
"We are optimistic that more aid will continue to reach the people of Gaza," he added.
The BBC's media and arts correspondent, David Sillito said that "the BBC and Sky say there is no issue about compromising impartiality" as Israel's has said there is a humanitarian crisis.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme Thursday 7 August.
