The papers: Friday's front pages

The Independent's Whitehall editor, Oliver Wright, and author Iain Macwhirter, joined the BBC News Channel to review Friday's front pages.

They began by discussing the front page of the Daily Telegraph's Scottish edition, which focuses on criticism of First Minister Alex Salmond after his performance in this week's TV debate on independence.

The pair also looked at a story in the Edinburgh-based Scotsman's report about English celebrities urging Scottish voters to preserve the union, and its lead about the effect on Scotland of Russia's trade war with the US and European Union.
