Hastings: Leaders act like 'children' on foreign policy

Sir Max Hastings says Western leaders have "a lot of growing up to do" if the crises in the Middle East and Ukraine are to be resolved.

The historian said Prime Minister David Cameron's remarks about military action against Islamic State militants were "silly" and Downing Street officials acted like "children".

Sir Max told BBC Radio 5 live's Tony Livesey: "What we look for in leaders is calm, good sense and reassurance and frankly, we haven't had it."
