Nepal trekkers: 'Nobody knows where my brother is'

At least 39 climbers are now known to have died on a key Nepali hiking route that was hit by major snowstorms and avalanches earlier this week, according to local officials.

Helicopters are helping rescue teams high in the Himalayas as they search for missing trekkers.

Amanda Vardy is the sister of mountaineer Nigel Vardy, who is believed to be in the area. She told the BBC he was an experienced climber, but had not been in contact since the snowstorm.

"Nobody knows where he is", she added.
