The Papers: Thursday's front pages

Broadcaster Dame Joan Bakewell and Peter Conradi, foreign editor of the Sunday Times, joined the BBC News Channel to review Thursday's front pages.

They began by discussing the papers' coverage of the shootings near the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, which left a soldier and the alleged gunman dead. They also debated whether this kind of attack was related to Canada's involvement with the US-led coalition in Syria and Iraq and if other Western capitals are at risk.

The Times' suggestion that there is an £8bn "black hole" in the English NHS's finances is also discussed, along with plans reported in the Daily Mirror that companies would be tasked with helping their staff lose weight.
