EU migrants could 'swamp' UK- defence minister Fallon warns

The Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has said many towns in Britain feel "under siege" from EU migrant workers, and some communities risked "being swamped".

His comments came as the government looks at proposals to curb European Union migration, but opponents say any such move would flout current rules.

His language attracted criticism, with Labour saying it was "desperate". A Downing Street source later said Mr Fallon "accepts he should have chosen his words better."

The BBC's political correspondent Ben Wright reports.
