Osborne's 'trick of accounting' won't wash, says Farage

The leader of the UK Independence Party, Nigel Farage, has accused the chancellor of using "smoke and mirrors" to try to "trick" the British people.

George Osborne has negotiated a halving of the £1.7bn surcharge the European Union requested from the UK.

The new amount of £850m will be handed over in two instalments next year.

Mr Farage says Mr Osborne is not being honest and his "trick of accounting" will not wash.
