Rail fares to rise by 2.2% next year
Average rail fares will rise by 2.2% from 2 January, the rail industry has said, marking the lowest rise for five years.
The government has capped the increase for regulated fares, which include season tickets, at the rate of inflation.
But campaigners say that in recent years the cost of a ticket has still risen far more quickly than people's incomes.
Richard Westcott reports.
