Officers 'may have been targeted because of their job'

Police in Liverpool have begun a murder investigation after an off-duty officer was killed in the city centre early on Friday morning.

PC Neil Doyle was leaving a bar along with two colleagues when they were attacked by a group of men.

Police believe the group may have been recognised as police officers.
