Builder fined £1000 for opening sluice on flooded Somerset levels

A builder who opened a sluice gate during the floods last winter on the Somerset levels has been fined £1000.

Lee Goddard was attempting to save his own property when he forced open a padlocked sluice gate, sending water downstream to the village of Thornley.
