SS Vega's World War II relief mission to Channel Islands
People living in the war-torn Channel Islands 70 years ago faced a desperate plight as, after years of German occupation, food and medical supplies had all but run out.
But the Red Cross ship the SS Vega was sent to the islands, and between Christmas and new year its cargo of food and clothes saved the lives of hundreds of people.
