Authorities 'failed to act appropriately' on Syria girls
A statement from the families of the schoolgirls who travelled to Syria said that the authorities "failed to act appropriately" and did not pass on information adequately.
The statement, read by Mohammed Tasnime Akunjee, a lawyer representing the families, talked of an "incredibly difficult last few weeks" but thanked the public for their "generosity of spirit".
The family said they felt they could have stopped the girls from travelling if they had been told all the information earlier.
