Generation 2015 profiles: Kate Cartmell-Done

I'm 19 years old and live in Ingleton, North Yorkshire.

I am an apprentice conservation officer at Cumbria Wildlife Trust and chose to pursue this route instead of going to university because I had a very negative experience doing my A levels and wanted a break from academia. I also believe that too many people are now able to go to university, devaluing degrees and increasing the importance of practical work experience.

Nature conservation is something I am passionate about and the environment is very high on my agenda, as is encouraging young women to become involved in traditionally male sectors and tackling inequality within these.
