The papers: Monday's front pages

Broadcaster Shyama Perera and Rob Merrick, Westminster correspondent for the Durham-based Northern Echo, joined the BBC News Channel to review Monday's papers.

They began by discussing the Daily Mail's front page, which reports comments from former SNP leader Alex Salmond suggesting that the SNP will hold the balance of power after May's general election.

The pair then moved on to a Guardian story suggesting Afzal Amin will be axed as Conservative parliamentary candidate for Dudley North over accusations he secretly organised a march with the English Defence League to gain popularity.

They also discussed a Daily Mirror story about a Conservative MP earning £800-an-hour through a second job.
