Switching off CCTV cameras to save cash

There are around six million of surveillance cameras in the UK, but many are run by cash-strapped councils that have switched some of them off to save money.

The Surveillance Camera Commissioner, Tony Porter, told Radio 4's Today programme that he was concerned about training and compliance issues and feared that public trust could be eroded.
