G4S boss pressed on force against prisoners

When Oakwood prison opened in 2012 we were told it was a model jail, efficient, modern and cheap to run.

The jail, run by G4S, has been troubled by prisoner unrest, including a seven-hour rooftop protest in November 2013 and a 10-hour disturbance in January 2014.

In a report last year, the HM Prison Inspectorate found the use of force by staff on prisoners was "almost double" that of similar prisons.

The Today programme's Justin Webb asked the G4S managing director, Jerry Petherick, whether they had addressed the concerns and were investigating every complaint.
