'BMA should be putting patients first' - PM

Theresa May is accusing junior doctors' leaders of "playing politics" after they announced a five-day strike, starting a week on Monday.

The government says 100,000 operations and about a million appointments around the country will be cancelled.

It is another escalation in the long-running row over a new contract, changing the pay and conditions for doctors below consultant level.
