Former child migrant describes orphanage abuse
A former child migrant has told the Independent Inquiry Into Child Sexual Abuse how two Christian Brothers raped him at an Australian orphanage.
Michael O’Donoghue, who migrated to Australia in 1953, said that Christian Brothers at the Clontarf home had forced children to kill horses and stray cats.
Mr O’Donoghue described being raped by Brother Murphy and Brother Angus but said he had been too scared to report what was happening for fear of being beaten.
He was one of thousands of children moved from the UK to Australia after World War Two.
