'My husband divorced me in a text message'

A Muslim woman who was divorced via a text message says she was willing to marry a stranger to win her husband back.

"Farah" told the BBC's Asian Network and Victoria Derbyshire programme her ex-husband sent her a text saying "talaq, talaq, talaq", meaning divorce - a practice some Muslims believe ends an Islamic marriage instantly.

Farah - who was still in love with her ex-husband - wanted to remarry him, and sought a controversial practice known as halala, which is accepted by a small minority of Muslims who subscribe to the concept of a triple talaq.

Halala involves the woman marrying someone else, consummating the marriage and then getting a divorce - after which she is able to remarry her first husband.
