Cyber-attack left me in ridiculous pain

A young girl has been left bedbound and in “ridiculous pain” after the cyber-attack on the NHS meant her leg amputation was cancelled.

Jess Lawton, 23, was due to have an operation to relieve a chronic pain condition after a gymnastics accident. She told 5 live’s Nicky Campbell:

“We’d been counting down the days, the hours just to get it done. I’ve been bed bound for a year. It’s been long enough. I need to be able to have a bit of a life.”

Jess has not yet received another date for her operation but believes it could be many more months.

“They’ve no idea what impact they [the hackers] have made on everyone who’s suffered from it.”
