Grenfell Tower: 'Government could have prevented deaths'

Labour MP Harriet Harman says the government did not follow a coroner's recommendations to install sprinklers in tower blocks, following the Lakanal House fire in 2009 which killed six people.

In 2013 Coroner Frances Kirkham recommended that the government "encourage" housing providers responsible for high rise flats "to consider the retro-fitting of sprinkler systems".

Prime Minister Theresa May insisted the coroner did not say there had to be sprinklers in every tower block.
