Chilled? Blame the stratosphere

A rise in temperature, known as a sudden stratospheric warming, is to blame for the cold snap.

Meteorologist Jim Bacon, of Weatherquest, explained the science to BBC Look East weather presenter Alex Dolan.

If you have seen enough snow, the good news is it appears the end is in sight - for now.
