Police work to prevent illegal raves

Devon and Cornwall Police are employing new tactics in a bid to prevent illegal raves over the festive period.

After dealing with two events last year, officers said they planned to use spotters and automatic number-plate recognition technology to prevent gatherings or halt any that have begun.

The spotters, teams in 4x4 vehicles, aim to locate where raves might happen before they occur, or get to a site within an hour and "hit it hard".
