Flood barriers go up as River Severn rises
Flood barriers have been put up in Shrewsbury after levels rose on the River Severn.
Downriver, barriers are expected to go up in Bewdley on Christmas Day, as the Environment Agency issued flood warnings for the Severn, the Wye and the Avon.
The high waters have closed several roads in Shropshire and Worcestershire and made others barely passable.
Chris Bainger, from the Environment Agency, said too many motorists were taking risks by driving through deep surface water.
The agency said more rain was expected in the counties over the next few days.
