Boris Johnson: We need to modernise Tube

London Underground workers have begun their 48-hour walkout over proposed job cuts and ticket office closures.

London mayor Boris Johnson has told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that "we need to modernise and automate the Tube".

He explained that he "respects the rights of trade unions to represent their workers".
