Mayflower Halls open to freshers starting university

Thousands of students are moving into newly built halls in Southampton, Reading and Bournemouth.

Roger Bell of the Southern Landlords Association said some members have claimed the new halls meant privately-let houses were struggling to find tenants, but most landlords were enjoying business from "good quality" students in Southampton.

Many of the new halls have been built privately and are run by the universities.
