Charity warns of millions living in illegal conditions

A sixth of all privately-rented homes in England are in a far worse condition than social housing and are not meeting legal requirements, according to a report by Citizens Advice.

It has found that the health of thousands of tenants is at risk from serious problems like damp and rat infestations.

Housing charities say more needs to be done in order to tackle rogue landlords.
