Fireworks petition goes before MPs

MPs have been debating limits to the number of days people can set off fireworks, after a petition gained more than 100,000 signatures.

The campaign was started because of concerns about the effect on people and animals of loud fireworks being set off on apparently random days.

The government has said most people use fireworks "appropriately and responsibly".
