Luton Airport operator opposes expansion plan

The Spanish company which runs Luton Airport has come out against the expansion plan announced by owners Luton Borough Council.

Airport Managing Director Glyn Jones said the operator London Luton Airport Operations (LLAOL) was looking at limiting the expansion to between 15-16 million passengers a year rather than the 18 million envisaged by the council.

Abertis has instead called for more security lanes, more gates and more stands for planes, warning of the danger of over-investment if the wider infrastructure is not in a position to cope.
